We are proud to announce Hamilton Leithauser will release his debut album Black Hours on June 2nd/3rd through Ribbon Music. Watch the Tristan Patterson directed video for the first single “Alexandra” below. The track, co-written and produced by Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend, is an explosive departure from Hamilton’s previous efforts.. bright and playful yet featuring all the hallmarks of a classically helmed Hamilton Leithauser tune.

Pre-order Black Hours now on CD, LP, and limited deluxe double LP from the Ribbon Mart or digitally from iTunes. Be sure not to miss Leithauser play FOUR special shows over two nights at Joe’s Pub in NYC on April 15th and 16th. Tickets go on sale February 27th.

Leithauser, known to date as the frontman of New York band The Walkmen, has one of the greatest singing voices of just about any genre. Known for his “suave but ragged croon that he can inflate into an anthemic wail whenever he gets ahold of a big chorus,” (Stereogum) Black Hours illustrates the sound of a singer enjoying his range.

Principally recorded in August 2013 at Vox Studios in Los Angeles, with Paul Maroon (The Walkmen), Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend), Richard Swift (The Shins/ solo), and Morgan Henderson (Fleet Foxes), Black Hours nods to the 1950s, whilst sustaining an undeniably contemporary stronghold.

Black Hours brings Leithauser full circle and then some, from those lonely midwinter piano-and-vocal sessions, to a loud Rock n Roll group and back again. It’s an album as passionate and personal and free as the canonical recordings that inspired it, and inaugurates a new chapter in an already remarkable career.
